Unmasked: Putting Your Best Face Forward – Part I
After over a year of hiding most of your face, we are all preparing to unmask for the notorious “hot girl summer” of 2021. I wanted to share some tips and techniques on how to prepare to put your best face forward. This is the first installation of a three-part series to share some skincare advice for putting your best face forward.
When should I start using Botox?
Botox, or botulinum toxin, is used to relax muscles. When injected into the muscles of your face, Botox will relax the muscles, which also relaxes the overlying facial skin.
I typically recommend that patients start using Botox for the treatment of fine lines when the smile wrinkles (crow’s feet), smile wrinkles, or the “11 wrinkles” in your forehead (glabellar lines) stick around even when your face is at rest. Some patients may notice those pesky lines around their mid-20s or early 30s. You may slowly notice that the lines no longer seem to respond to a good night’s rest or drinking plenty of water. Botox is a great option to treat, and even prevent the formation of, fine lines and wrinkles.
